‘Portraits: Women Thriving After Breast Cancer”, is an ongoing, multifaceted project that Drs. Diane Alexander and Bernadette Wang Ashraf have been working on for the last four years. It includes this book, a documentary, a web site and social networking. The project was designed to create a community of support for women recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors want to show these patients through these beautiful images, writings, and voices, that after treatment for breast cancer, they can feel beautiful and at peace with their bodies and spirit.
