This book offers a glimpse of the exhibition OPEN BOOKS, in which sixteen artists from Australia, Hong Kong and the UK respond in images and words to the challenge of working within the format of the Chinese folding book. For some it was a familiar format, for others it was a completely new way of unfolding an image. Each interpretation is completely different, forming a wonderfully diverse exhibition within the tight constraints of the size and shape of the books. The exhibition opened at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth on 30th June 2012 and ran until 22nd September. In 2013 it will be shown again in BayArt in Cardiff from 13th April to 8th May, then in the University of Western England from 1st July to 22nd August, before traveling to Hangzhou in China in November.
