About my trainee 'non posing' for test shots. The beauty of the non pose is that a person is not putting his or her ego in front of the lens. Just the face, (and may-be finally the soul?) as an innocent openness is brought into the light. Most of the people I generally have to photograph force themselves into an (over) conscious act of posing. The reason of course is that the ego plays an important part in our communication to the world, especially when portraits for public magazines are involved.
