Sobre o livro
“Just before Easter 1933, my parents told me that I had been enrolled at the convent school at Heiligengrabe.“ This is the beginning of a memoir by Christa Armstrong, née von Tippelskirch. At the convent Christa becomes best friend with Cecilchen, the granddaughter of Wilhelm II, the last German Emperor. The two adolescents grow up during the 1930s in Germany and become witnesses to the end of the Weimar Republic and the rise of Nazism. After some months with Cecilchen in England, Christa settles in Berlin where she actively supports the group of people who, unsuccessfully, plotted to kill Hitler.
Old photos, diary excerpts from Cecilchen, Princess of Prussia, and Christa’s own descriptions of the end of WWII in Berlin, make this book a personal account as well as a historical document.
