"As blue as nothing else on earth" is a book about a cave inside of a glacier in Salzburg. In January 2015 I undertook a ski tour on the Stubacher Sonnblick, a mountain in the Austrian Alps. There I discovered an ice cave at the foot of a glacier. In summer, the glacier calves little icebergs into a lake, which float about in it, gradually melting. In winter, the lake is frozen. At this time it is therefore possible to observe the glacier tongue at close hand. Thus I was able to access the ice cave via the lake and admire the ancient, deep-blue ice above and around me. In September I hiked to the glacier another time. Regrettably I determined that the huge cave had completely collapsed and melted away during the very hot summer. What remains are the pictures I could take. The book starts with a preface in german and english.
