Sobre o livro
Recently, I returned to the Netherlands after living in Curaçao for 5 years. During that period a large number of photographs were made about the island, its residents and visitors.
Curaçao is an island in South Caribbean basin close to Venezuela. Together with Aruba and Bonaire it belongs to the so-called ABC Islands. The island has the status of a separate country within the Kingdom of Netherlands. The residents of Curaçao consist of a blend of immigrants during ages from the various continents. Same applies for the local language, Papiamentu, which has been developed out of Portuguese creole, with Dutch, Spanish and African influences.
This magazine contains 45 monographs shot in Curaçao during the past 5 years. It is not a complete story about the Island, but they shine a positive light on daily life in Curacao and in particularly how to spend free-time. The pictures show year-end festivities, carnaval, pride, seu, sea-side activities and sports.
