About the Book
Every child has a lunchbox - but not every child has a champion.
English Language Learners do not have a traditional voice - either in the cafeteria or the literary world.
In “Lunchboxes” a diverse group of ELL children gather for the universal childhood experience of lunchtime in the school cafeteria.
The children of “Lunchboxes” represent the 2017 demographic of students in America’s schools where ~10% of children are classified as English Language Learners.
“Lunchboxes “ presents a light hearted portrait of the cultures and cuisines of the representative countries from where our students come. This Young Reader picture book serves as a classroom tool for the English Language Learner as well as a conversation starter for the traditional K-2 student in fostering understanding of cultural diversity and geographical awareness.
