I'm born in 1968 in the district Oraefi in southeast Iceland, and I'm still living there, now with my wife Matthildur Thorsteinsdottir and our sons. Since 1990 we have offered a travel service called From Coast To Mountains at the base of Vatnajokull, Europe's largest glacier. I'm the oldest (in working years) mountain guide in Iceland, but before I became a mountain guide I had planned to become a photographer. In later years I have been able to combine these into one. Around 2006 my company became the first in Iceland to offer daily ice cave tours in winter, and since a lot of our tours to ice caves been with serious photographers I have been able to continue my photography. I have already published one photography book, Crystal Ice Cave, and I'm now (2026) working on a bigger book that I call ICE CAVES. I plan to publish the photography book ICE CAVES in fall 2026 or 2027.
