I shot each of these photos not as literal representations of the subjects in front of my lens, but instead to expand my own preconceptions as well as those of viewers of my images. Each is meant to stimulate ideas and feelings much like paintings might incite viewers who observe them in art galleries. I hope that the finest examples of photographic expressionism will be enjoyed within these pages of Compositions in Black White.
