This book collects shots made in 2016 in Guatemala, from the green, tropical lowlands of Péten to the blue, eye-drop lakes of the central highlands. The country is not the easiest for photo snapping: people tend to shy away from the camera for a number of cultural and historic reasons. Yet opportunities jump out at me in every corner – natural wonders, small animals, street textures, indigo clothes, curious eyes, ruined colonial walls, busy markets. I tried to pick up a bit of everything to preserve the real nature of the place: a rich, challenging and technicolor mix of urban and rural elements, modernity and antiquity, quaint places and majestic scenery; enlivened by the gentle descendants of the Maya, a sometimes wary but always delicate and kind people.
