      Truth is stranger than fiction.
Before I go any further I can mention Emmett Tillets famous murder case in 1955 that sparked a civil rights movement, his mother in her grief and outrage, called the Chicago Defender newspaper telling reporters she wanted the world to see the barbaric act committed against her son by a group of assuming white men. Acts were committed by people with warped beliefs and assumptions. She had an open casket at his funeral so the perpetrators and the public could visualize the terrible way her son had been treated hoping for change.
These types of acts still happen today, only they have gone less visual in the way they are achieved and evolved alongside current technology. If its not seen, its not happened and nobody can do anything about it. Metaphorical of the scene in Parabellum when John wick kills the tall man in a library with a Dante’s inferno book and places it back on the shelf with the mans blood smeared on the cover. A silent unseen dispatch in a world of information. Nothing changes only the motivational incentive, there’s always some notion people will target. Its not about the truth but only what people believe.
Omens of Murder is a poetry photo-book about events in the subjects life resulting from the same notions and lack of sight as the above perpetrators. How one man tried to do his best for his family by following his dreams and desires, and how they crumbled at the hands of others through illegal interference. Trusted people ruining life’s through assumptions, mis-interpretation and lack of sight. How bitter people can become blinded seeking revenge because of this. Ultimately the perpetrators have become what they set out to destroy, through their own assumptions. It is easier to believe someone has done wrong and ignore the truth when deep down lack of sight consumes you. An eye for an eye but that eye is blind. This is the Fourth book in a series with Queenstown, The Gift and Last Stop.

      Blackpool Lancashire UK

Stephen Shaw (born 1976, year of punk) was raised on Grangepark, Blackpool in the North West of England. He is an MA photographer at Central Lancaster University, and has a BA first class honours in photography. Shaw is frequently published and specialises in symbolism, Social Documentary and Portraiture, working within street / documentary. Shaw's images are motivated by pain and memorialism. He has great empathy with a desire to research failed human constructs having lived a darker side of life that he frequently questions and talks about with truth and a deep understanding of the people that inhabit its fabric, hoping to help them. This is his driving force to evolve knowledge through the photographic medium, bringing subjects he cares about to the attention of a wider audience. "Your creation destroyed by an innocent target. You’ve become what you set out to destroy".
