"... As I photographed this series, I began in isolation. In December and January, I went to the locations I wanted to shoot when I knew the space would be empty. I didn’t want anyone to bother me. Quietly, I would extend the legs of my tripod, unfold my wooden field camera, and attach the lens. Under the shelter of a dark hooded jacket, I peered at the image projected upside-down onto the ground glass. Taking my time, I deliberated over composition and wondered if my perspective of the scene was that of an outsider or an insider..."
