Michaela Perau is a young artist who’s work illuminates the power of innocence, vulnerability, and generational retrospection. The ephemeral weight of youth and identity resurface throughout a variety of works to narrativize the generational burden of one’s “growing up.” Expedited adolescence and its subliminal effects on the individual.
Perau’s work remains motivated by narrative that drives her minimalist and detailed aesthetics. Narrative contextualized both by her religious upbringing and contemplation of restrain via society and culture. seeped deeply in concepts surrounding rebellion and societal dissonance perau aims to contextualize the viewing experience through audio, text, and physical defacement of her images. Perau recently moved to Brooklyn where she continues to experiment and create in a variety of mediums.
