Htet T. San: Baltimore – My Days as An Observer
Baltimore: My Days as An Observer is a visual diary created during my stay in Baltimore. The work is an attempt to heal myself from losing faith in humanity – after seeing the horrors of Dictatorship in my native country, Myanmar, and the sudden passing of my beloved father amid the Myanmar military coup. I bring my camera to the streets in Baltimore and use street photography as therapy. I engage in random conversations with the people I photograph. I was able to glimpse the brief stories of their lives. This project is my reconnection to humanity and a recovery for me by simply listening, observing and by merely clicking some moments in time. From this experience I have regained my lost sense of inspiration. Art is Life. Life is Art.
