The citizens of life in futuristic times live in isolation.
Or at least, Elena Mallick and the rest of her city do.
A government that residents only refer to as The Oval controls the city, constantly giving reports of a raging nuclear war outside that has kept them isolated for so long. Every single day, the citizens go to work in a factory to build something unknown to all. Tall looming walls, fierce guards and their own fear keeps the citizens within their city sector — conforming to the government’s norms is easy for most. Except for one girl. Because something feels fishy about the whole “war” story.
Elena’s never had the same dull beliefs as everyone else; she’s smart enough to see past those fake advertisements. But when she finds something that confirms a lingering theory that could change her view of the world, she has no choice but to escape her city. Equipped with her best friend and an internal rebellion against The Oval, she sets out to find answers. When she finds out the truth of the dark past, her world is shaken. But when she finds out some dark news about the future and something that will risk the lives of the city’s people, will she be able to save the city? Or will she crumble from the pressure and leave the city doomed?
