The city of Durham is many things to many people. For me, it's where I fell in love and where I found my professional calling. During my time here I have watched as Durham rapidly transformed from a scrappy little city into a true center of modern southern culture. With this transformation have come many changes. Some are small, many large, but all have contributed to a shift in Durham's identity. Fully aware that I was living in a city undergoing tremendous change I set out to document Durham as experienced through my eyes.


At the moment, the place I call home appears to be in the midst of its renaissance. Boutique hotels, shops, and restaurants are now plentiful downtown. What remains to be seen is how much of the "old" Durham will linger once the dust settles.


The photographs in this book represent both iconic landmarks, and more obscure areas of the city and illustrates the incredible visual diversity Durham currently offers. Many of the photographs contained within are not of things most would call "beautiful," yet collectively I believe this body of images showcases this city's very unique brand of charm.
