This idea formed at the end of my college career, a time filled with stress, caffeine and constant urgency. As I concentrated on this new project I realized I wanted I a release that visually represented what I longed for: peace. This emerged as chance to test my photography skills to capture the perfect silhouette, to show a figure so calm embracing the light and absorbing the sun. I wanted my images to be so focused on the moment in time, to not feel rushed or reflective, but to emphasize the “right now”. As things came together I became fascinated with merging the edges of my images with the black backgrounds, causing only pockets of light to be revealed in spaces around the figure, filling the frame and running off the edges. I want to convey that the moment is all encompassing but also fleeting, so find enjoyment in each moment and you will be rewarded with a lifetime of happiness.
