I am a passionate wellness advocate, who tries to enable others to live their best life possible. My passion has been driven by living with a major mental health concern and wanting to be in control o f this illness and not "it" in charge of me. On this journey I have been fortunate to receive the following: In 2013 & 2014 I received carer awards in recognition of my support to carers of people with a mental illness in my community. In 2014 I received the QRRRWN State award for my community work in advocating on behalf of people with a mental health concern. Also in 2014 I started working for Mental Illness Fellowship Queensland as a Peer Worker/Community Service Worker. In 2015 I was privileged to be named the first Community Member for the Queensland Board of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry. For me to carry out these responsibilities and to still be there for my self and family I have found it necessary to have a good self care routine
