Sobre o livro
A isn't for apple. It's for airport and adventure. B? For boarding pass and bag, both of which you'll need to travel around the world with C. That's C for Coco, your charming, chatty and convivial tour guide.
While 'A is for adventure' is designed to be an A to Z of travel for the younger armchair traveller (5 to 8), its visual sophistication is intended to make it equally appealing to the adult eyeball.
How the book came about:
In 2008 I lost most of the thumb on my right hand to an infection caused by an Australian White-tail spider bite. I later learnt I only just avoided developing life-threatening Septicemia as well as the loss of my entire right hand. All from a measly little critter that crawled into my bed one night in my safe suburban home.
As traumatic as it was, the experience made me realise that risk lies where you least expect it and life is unbelievably precarious. Suddenly a dream I'd felt too nervous to turn into reality - travelling around the world as a single parent - seemed like a walk in the park and absolutely the right thing to do.
After two operations on my hand to 'rebuild' my thumb and sufficient physio to be able to operate my beloved camera, I bought 'round the world' tickets for myself and my five year old daughter, Coco, and headed for the airport.
Five months later we returned home, with thousands of images and plenty of book ideas. 'A is for adventure' is one of them.
