The Outermost Cape: Encountering Time is a collaboration between writer Marian Leah Knapp and photographer Vivien Goldman. A conversation in word and image, the project brings together Goldman’s quiet, formally sharp images of the Cape Cod landscape and Knapp’s reflective essays, written in response to the photographs.

Marian Leah Knapp lives in Newton MA and has a long-term relationship with the outermost Cape, especially Wellfleet. She writes about the fragility of our environment, the processes and promises of human aging, and caring for the people and things we cherish. She hopes that her reflections resonate with others who understand these life experiences. Vivien Goldman is a fine art photographer who lives in Brookline, MA and spends much of the year on the outermost Cape in Eastham. She has exhibited her work in group and solo shows nationally and internationally since her first public exhibition at Harvard University in 1999. She began her career as a large format black & white photographer, and several years ago incorporated color and digital technology into her practice. She finds much of what moves her in the small details of solitary things that have been left behind by time. Her work can be viewed on viviengoldmanphotography.com.
