Sobre o livro
Orpheus in the Underworld, written by Jacques Offenbach in 1858, was rewritten for Opera Australia in 2003 by the trio of talented Australian performers Jonathan Biggins, Ignatius Jones and Phillip Scott.
The Gilbert & Sullivan Society of South Australia was able, via the auspices of one of its patrons, Stuart Maunder, to obtain the rights to the production and staged the same at the Scott Theatre in May 2009.
Directed by Richard Trevaskis, with musical direction by Alan McKie and choreography by Sue Pole, the bright and naughty production was well received by audiences. With quirky set design by David Lampard and a myriad of colourful and clever costumes by Bronwen Major, Orpheus was a huge challenge and delight for its cast and crew.
This book is a historical record of Orpheus in the Underworld and uses information from the programme compiled by Elizabeth Olsson and designed by Sam Davy.
